BRITE - EU

BRITE-EU is an international Horizon Europe project focused on developing talent in research and innovation. The project fosters cooperation between universities, research organisations, companies and innovation centres in order to strengthen the skills of professionals and improve their impact in practice.
The main thematic focus of the project is digital health, which serves as an environment for testing new approaches to education, cooperation and knowledge sharing between academic and non-academic sectors.
The project connects widening countries in research and innovation – Portugal, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Romania – with countries that have more advanced research ecosystems, Spain and Sweden. This cooperation creates an environment for mutual learning and knowledge sharing, supports the development of skills and career opportunities for researchers, and contributes to strengthening research and innovation ecosystems in the participating countries.
The challenge the project addresses
The European research landscape faces several long-standing issues — disparities in capacity between regions, limited mobility between academia and the private sector, and a lack of opportunities for talent development in some countries.
BRITE-EU therefore works to ensure that researchers, innovation specialists and other professionals have better conditions for professional growth, cross-sectoral cooperation and involvement in international projects.
Special emphasis is placed on collaboration between academia, industry and the public sector.
The project focuses on three main areas
Skills development
New educational programmes and training will be created based on the needs of practice, helping researchers and innovation professionals develop key competences.
Cross-sector cooperation
The project fosters cooperation between universities, companies, research organisations and public institutions.
Mobility and experience sharing
The project also includes internships, mentoring and staff exchanges between organisations, enabling the transfer of knowledge and experience.
